$5,000 Scholarship Opportunity From The Mountain West Credit Union Foundation

The Mountain West Credit Union Foundation will award two $5,000 scholarships to two students who are a member of a Colorado-based credit union seeking a business degree from a four-year accredited institution.  The 2021 application is now open and will close April 16, 2021.

The scholarship is named after two Colorado Credit Union leaders, Susan J. Brayman and Carroll Beach. Susan served as a Colorado Credit Union System senior executive and Carroll served as a Colorado Credit Union System CEO. Together they served for more than 50 years.

Carroll Beach began his Colorado Credit Union career in 1973 as the President and CEO of the Colorado Credit Union League and retired in 2001.  During his tenure, he grew the Service Corporation to a $14 million credit union product provider, served on national and international credit union boards, including the Credit Union National Association and today Carroll is considered one of the most admired U.S. credit union leaders.  Carroll continued his work as CEO of Credit Union Service Corporation-CO-OP Shared Branching from 2002 to 2011.  He currently serves on the board of Elevations Credit Union in Boulder Colorado and is a highly sought-after credit union and business adviser.

Sue Brayman began her credit union career with the Colorado Credit Union League in 1973 and rose through the ranks to executive vice president.  Sue held the distinction of being the first woman vice president of a League in the country.  She directed the growth of the Service Corporation to a $14 million organization that was nationally known for its business excellence.  Sue spearheaded the creation of the Colorado Credit Union Foundation, the forerunner to the Mountain West Credit Union Foundation today.
